Executive Team

The HBAA Executive Team is a group of dedicated young leaders elected to serve the student assembly. The Executive are ultimately responsible for the direction and activities of Students' Council.

Introducing your 2012/2013 Executive Team!

President

Harman Atwal

My job on council: to oversee operations and ensure that you're getting the most out of your Ivey experience across all aspects - academic, social, and otherwise. I'm hoping to improve the support services that the HBAA offers, and increase opportunities for you to get involved with your peers.

My favourite memories of HBA1: pre-hangs before Frog Thursdays and getting to know my section-mates during 48-hour reports.

Studying:  dual degree with Political Science

Career Goal: I hope to work in management consulting following Ivey and prior to studying law.

Piece of advice: reach out to your Gurus and HBA2s, and ask tons of questions! Building relationships is key to making the most of the HBA Program.

Feel free to contact me at anytime!

VP Academic

Cyrus Aga

My job on council: responsible for determining the final grades of each HBA1 student- just kidding. I am responsible for coordinating the clubs, conferences and exchange related activities for the HBA program. I am also responsible for selecting the academic representatives of each section and ensuring the overall academic well-being of the HBA student body. This includes student/professor concerns, academic integrity issues and so on.

Career Goal: I am fortunate enough to be working as a summer analyst in a hedge fund in Toronto (that’s right, another finance kid).

My favourite memory of HBA1: when I told my section’s VP Social that she had a beautiful smile in front of the entire class in order to get class contribution.

Piece of Advice: go into Ivey with an open mind, both career related and personally. Be open to explore all academic and career related paths- do not be sucked into the mainstream pathways that you may have heard of from previous years. Also, my other huge piece of advice is to approach the HBAA Exec WHENEVER you want! We are all ready and willing to help you out in any way we can.

For any academic questions, career concerns or solid pick-up lines, do not hesitate to contact me.

VP Communications

Shalyn Orange

My job on council: is mainly behind the scenes work - but I make sure you know what is happening, and also remember what has happened with the yearbook that you will receive at the start of your HBA2 year (from HBA1). You can look forward to weekly e-newsletters that I will send out on Sundays to let you know what great opportunities there are for you in the Ivey Community. I'll try to keep them brief - but use this information to seize the opportunities awarded to you in HBA1.

My favourite memory of HBA1: would probably be the formals (Ivey Connects, HBAA Formal and Gala) and getting to know my section.

Studying: HBA, with a concentration in accounting

Career Goal: to gain my CA designation and work in an international capacity to fulfill my love of travel

Piece of Advice: I definitely agree with Connor - GET INVOLVED and DO IT EARLY! It makes such a difference. Take a risk, raise your hand in class, volunteer - and you'll be glad you did.

VP Finance

Dhruv Vyas

My job on council:  responsible for the financial health and operations of the HBAA. I'm in charge of making sure that a portion of your money is allocated through the budget to fund O-Week, Section Budgets, Conferences, and more! I'll be the guy making sure that you receive appropriate reimbursements, organizing locker sales and distributing your Ivey business cards.

Studying: I am currently pursuing a dual degree through Ivey and the Medical Sciences program

Career Goal: I'm looking into the financial services industry as well as possibly going to medical school.

My favourite memory of HBA1: every moment I had with my section (aka my second family), whether it involved shenanigans at the Frog, or cracking jokes in class.

Piece of Advice: network (aka 'professionally flirt') like you never have before. You'll realize how beneficial it is socially, emotionally, academically and career-wise.

My job on council: it’s my responsibility to ensure that you have fun during your HBA1 year. Under my platform falls the responsibility of organizing O-week, Formals, the HBA Associations Golf Recruiting Tournament, Ivey Sports Teams and Ivey Cup.

Piece of Advice: At Ivey we stay true to our WORK HARD, PLAY HARD motto. While this will undoubtedly be the toughest academic year of your life, I guarantee it will also be your most enjoyable. You will learn very quickly how important it is to maintain a reasonable work life balance. I strongly encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities to get involved with clubs, sports teams and other extracurricular activities. The onus is on you to make the most of your HBA experience.

My team and I will aim to organize as many activities to support you guys through your HBA1 year and help you reduce your stress. As well, we hope to get you involved with our charity and environmental initiatives!

My favourite memory of HBA1: the first and last frog nights.
